Glass Inspirations

I love meeting new artists, people that inspire. I was in my old stomping grounds of Boerne a few days ago and visited The Carriage House, one of the galleries I was always imaging myself in when I started to live in the Hill Country back in 2011 but haven't quite made it 100% home yet due to my travel lust.  Katherine Stewart was minding the gallery this day and we had a pleasant discussion about her math background and how some of her beautiful pieces represent that geometry type of feel.  I loved the yellows and blues and creativity that burst forth from her work.  I noticed the elegant pieces right away however chose to wander the gallery looking for old friend's work at first. There are still some artists I recognized like Linda Chalberg, however I was introduced to Chris Grey and Rita Kirkman and a few more. Barbie Holton's work is amazing with gourds.

I love Katherine's statement on her bio; "We were created in God's image. He created the beauty around us that is so inspiring for an artist...the gorgeous sunrises, the colorful sunsets, the snow-capped mountains, the deep blue oceans. The beauty which surrounds us motivates me to create and the colors become my palette."

I like the idea of God's colors being one's palette. I have a tendency to be a bit too bright and wild with my colors if comparing to real life, but I guess I am wearing rose tinted glass's most of the time. I certainly don't need to wear those glass's when looking at the creations in The Carriage House. All the art is top notch and I am pleased to of met Katherine. I look forward to coming back to the Hill Country next year in the Autumn for a few months to enjoy and dive into appreciating the art and meeting more of the artists here. How exciting to be seeing my little part of the world where I own a home grow, gives me food for thought as to living here in the future. I look forward to that time.  The Hill Country of Texas really is a special place, so much wide open space, art and music, lots of parks and botanical gardens, museums and galleries. There is a health consciousness that is just beginning to sweep through here and perhaps I can help speed that up when I live here. How exciting to feel the pull of wanting to live here again, all in good time, all in good time.
