Art Restoration

Finding mold after one year of storage on some of my works that were not in a frame have left me having to learn a new skill, that of art restoration! I am lucky to have my small botanical illustration brushes with me so I can get into the nooks and crannies to brush off the mold, then I will have to re-apply some of the soft chalk pastels I had as  final layer. I may even have to re-wet some of the area and re-apply some colour. Oh boy, well, looks like my next piece will have to wait a bit. I will definitely get these back into their well made frames I had done here in Bali to keep them safe and ready for the next showing later this year along with new works!

Fresh Beginnings

Back in Bali for most of 2021 I feel, it was a surprising twist of events to bring me here. After my 4 month stint in Maui where I once again was thinking to settle for longer than that, things have taken a turn to bring me home here. I have 4 paintings here that have been in various homes while I've been gone, and one gallery, but as I gather my belongings and re-establish myself here, I look forward to seeing what new works I create! After selling the 3 pieces I did in Maui on a larger scale than normal, I'm wondering how my new condensed size will reflect that. At 16" x 20" they are more conducive to being packed in a portfolio and put in bottom of suitcase as I roam. With so much abundance in the fruit and floral life here I have no lack of choices.

I move into my old pad end of this week and am happily settled for now in a temp place next door but do look forward to setting up my mini-art studio here and continuing on my artistic journey of S.E. Asia at this time!
