Healing Lavendar

Here in the Hill Country of Texas we have beautiful lavender fields.  Sage, rosemary and all those wonderful herbs grow quite easily here.  Today I went to a lavender festival and roamed around all the beautiful arts and home made gourmet food items!  There was lavender ice cream of all sorts...yum yum!!!  Branching out to see more of this new home of mine and the space it inhabits is becoming more and more rewarding as time passes.  The summer is approaching and I feel this will be a very good rest of the year here!

Keep On Keeping On

I spent about a month on and off working on my agave painting, I was very happy with it and used some masking fluid painstakingly for the small feathery pollen bits on the flower of the plant, also some highlighted areas within the leaves.  I then decided to get really creative with pastel and rubbed it on the paper in various shades for depth, structure, textue and richness.  I was bamboozled with being able to get the masking fluid off and calmly ripped up the painting because I knew it was no use and at that point the only way to move forward and repaint this plant was to be able to continue with my ideas without stopping.  The agave is one of the main Hill Country plants and I have wanted to fulfil my quadruple "mind-expo" with the aloe, yucca, prickly pear and then the agave.  These four plants are the heart of this Texan countryside I reside and express the richness of this earth so well.  I am happy to say the British saying "Be Calm & Carry On" was foremost in my mind!
