The April/May 2016 issue of Expat Life Thailand arrived in the mail so I now have the printed version of my aloe article. The whole article can be read under the "Published Articles" in the navigation bar on this website or if you are on linked in you can click on the "LinkedIn" connection on the top of my website on the home page. It is wonderful to have the Ale Vera plant in most of the places I have lived; Hawaii, California, Cape Town, Thailand and now Texas!

Lots of classes at New Braunfels Art League going on today. The upstairs has loads of spaces for workshops and there are two today with mixed media. I am here showing shoppers that come in some new works and also working on my agave painting up at the front by the door to entice people to come in! This is a fairly artsy town with cute cafes, boutiques and restaurants. I enjoy coming here once a month or more to donate my time and enter shows, meet new artists and come to meetings. It is a very eclectic group!

Had a light, fun day in Boerne neighborhood called "The Flats". Loads of home owners let us artists set up in their front yards and show our work. The weekend has had rain in and out with about 1pm really starting to pour but I did enjoy a cool morning with coffee and friends strolling around "The Flats". There must of been over 50 artists among 14 homes, very fun! I ended up being the only one at my home due to the impeding rain but that didn't stop art lovers from visiting! Really great how Boerne is such an up & coming art scene and all the people that make it so. Making new friends everyday in my new home town in Texas!

Lots of Texans involved in Native Plants and local pollinators are pulling together to help people be more aware of planting plants to help sustain local butterfly populations; Milkweed being a major one for the Monarchs. Enjoyed going to the Farmer's Market today at Herff Farm and coming upon an old renovated homestead with lots of native plant information about the place. Was able to relax in a beautiful space in the back of the gardens with no one around on a Saturday afternoon, very amazing place! It is so wonderful when you can just get into your car and go or step out our door to find new discoveries in our own backyards or hometowns!

If you're in the Boerne/Hill Country area 2nd weekend of May, come visit me at 309 W San Antonio in Boerne, #3 on the map! The Waddle is happening in town and loads of artists are showing their work in an older part of Boerne, behind Kendal Inn, will be a lovely day! I'll have some new work ready to show also...I've already scoped out the house I am at and it is a beautiful older home in the gorgeous neighbourhood, very excited to display in a creative way!
The Art Waddle is Boerne's premier community art show and sale. It's a festive outdoor event held on neighborhood sidewalks and yards on the second Saturday in May. In 2016, the Waddle falls on May 14.
The Art Waddle is part of Boerne's commitment to the arts. It's also part of the trend toward fun, informal celebration of painting, sculpture, glassworks, and more. People stroll streets at their own pace, chatting with artists, making friends and enjoying the day.
The Waddle is held in the "Flats," Boerne's funkiest neighborhood. Over the last decade the Flats has become a diverse, reinvigorated zone where modest older residences mingle with new and imaginative architecture. It's a place for the creative side of Boerne.
Named after the ducks that populate Boerne's Cibolo Creek, the Art Waddle is organized by friends of the arts.
