Spring Field Trip; Kerrville Gardens

Went on a field trip with the Native Plant Society of Texas and some of the Master Naturalist Group out today to the Native Plant Gardens just south-west of Kerrville!  Saw so many beautiful flowers in bloom and also a gorgeous river running through the Hill Country of Texas!  Met some fabulous people and picnicked up on a hill overlooking all the wild oaks...really good day!

Orchid Show

Enjoyed a botanical day with the Orchid Show near the Botanical Gardens of San Antonio, Texas.  Lots of beautiful orchids, many different varieties and hybrids.  Stopped of at the McNay Art Museum for some influx of Rodin sculptures and gorgeous light in the courtyard in which to have lunch.  With Spring in the air and some misty morning rains, the days are cool but not cold and the weather is turning its head. Beautiful wildflowers line the highways of Texas also as the sun begins to bring its warmth.

NBAL Texas Watercolor Society Art Show 2016

Just got back from the Texas Watercolor Society Art Show at the New Braunfels Art League in New Braunfels in the Hill Country.  I work there one day a week and have my paintings hanging there year round.  It is a beautiful gallery and there are many more pics on my facebook page if interested!  The art on display right now during the TWS show is superb!  There are mostly large real washy watercolours with the paint going all the way to the edges, lots of lights and deep darks, intricate detail in some but most are very ethereal, washes, colours, water and movement.

Parade of Artists Day of New Friends

Had a really great weekend meeting loads of new people, both local and from afar!  It was really rewarding to speak about the medicinal qualities of my plant paintings and that they related directly to Texas plants here in the Hill Country.  I had a lot of interest in prints and also my new consultation business "Creative Consultations".  (You can find that in the navigation bar or in the drop down menu if you're on your phone.)  The shop I was in was buzzing and it was a very successful fun-filled day in general!  I found some time to go around and meet all the other artists that were showing also, everyone seemed very happy with their weekend!

Weekend Warrior

I'm all ready for the Parade of Artists with 5 medicinal plants of Texas (except for the Bluebonnet but I bet you can make a tea out of the flowers!) and my published articles about these very plants all laminated and ready to be seen.  It will be a fun weekend of meeting lots of new people and discussing medicinal plants, I am sure I'll be learning a lot myself being new here as a permanent resident.  Having people sign up to receive my newsletter is also a goal of mine so the weekend promises to bring good things!

Parade of Artists

Next weekend, April 9th - 10th, I am in a really fun art show called The Parade of Artists with the BPA, Boerne Professional Artists.  I'll be showing my medicinal plants of Texas paintings at Hunting & Gathering on Main Street.  Make sure to drop by if you're in town.  I'll be discussing the qualities of 5 Texas plants and having the paintings for sale too.  I'll have "Prickly Pear Party" outside on an easel which is the cactus painting on the flyer.  I'm catty-corner from the main grass square and it is promised to be a fantastic fun-filled day!  Hope to see you!

Texas Native Plant Show

Back from a bit of a break and enjoyed the Texas Native Plant Show today!  Spring is here and the morning misty rains are descending on us to leave us by early afternoon with fresh air and clean plants!  The Hill Country of Texas has so much to offer and so many beautiful Native Plants that are springing into action now!
