Not Just Purple

One of the most fun things I love about painting is developing the sight to see ALL colours in something, even the clouds and grass, tree bark and one petal!  Mangosteen is purple yes, but there are deep reds and oranges, yellows and dark pigments of sienna and black shades also!  Making sure to use my paints in a way that shows the many layers of colour and vibrancy of the item I am painting is such a challenge but teaches me to see more clearly the many shades of not only things, but people too!

Queen of Fruits; Mangosteen

QUEEN OF FRUITS, yes, that's the mangosteen!  Queen Victoria, it is documented, was so enamored of the fruit she offered anyone who could bring her thins fruit 100 pounds sterling back in the day.  We are so lucky to have it at our beck and call if one lives in S.E. Asia as it is a native plant here.  As I begin this next painting, I see reds, purples and golden hues.  This piece of work will be sure to be an eye popper!
