Education Panels PTK

Some botanical illustration works to add artistic value to some education panels going up around the gardens combined with ethnobotany, specialist plants, cultural uses and more.   Constructive information and pictures from our special PTK Gardens, the Pha Tad Ke in Luang Prabang!  Off to designers this week!

Flowers of Devotion

I have the great honor of working with Biba Vilayleck, Bryony Smart (head botanist at PTK) and Rik Gadella (director of PTK) to help create a beautiful publication "old school" presentation, that will resemble poetry and art books; simple elegant pieces for people to own as keepsakes as their special time here within the PTK.  There will be a series of books over the years and it is an open ended creative process as we speak.  I will be submitting requests to people I feel are qualified, have some special interest within our own vision and would consider themselves privileged to be a part of this new image of not only a botanical garden that the Pha Tad Ke expresses but there is a tangible quality to the air here, a real feeling of royal dignity, and we are aiming on allowing this permanency of vibrations to flow from the PTK to you.  Some of the books will be a bit more on the scientific side while others a bit more esoteric but the ideas of a continual stream of meanings will come through, how we connect to the earth and to all the ideas that have come before and after.

Etchings for PTK Shop

I had a real nice surprise, when at the gardens today on opening day, I was in the shop and saw my drawings I did a month or so before I arrived here.  So much has happened between then and now, a whole world of new things, people and places, foods, living quarters and habits are forming in my life.  So "fun" to get to see something I did become a reality right here right now, where I am at from where I was.  It is such a gift to understand time, how to "be" in it, how to follow your dreams with actions to make them real...

Opening Day for the Pha-Tad-Ke in Laos

I have come 1/2 way the around the world to be here for this day, the opening of the Pha-Tad-Ke Botanical Gardens here in Luang Prabang Laos. Not only is this a day I envisioned since 2012 but I am a part of helping with some of the finishing touches with artwork needed and designing some botanical illustration short courses for the coming 2017 year. Learning all about new plants and how to use some of the better known ones in different ways due to living in different cultures is a real spice of life for me...then portraying them through art to get people interested that otherwise would not know or be aware of these plants is the sprinkling of brown sugar with cinnamon on the top!
